Cambodia, Cuba Satisfied with Bilateral Relations and Cooperation

Cambodia and Cuba have expressed mutual satisfaction with the continuous development of bilateral ties, grounded in mutual trust, solidarity, and a shared commitment to peace and development, and expect the ties to further flourish in the coming years.

The reaffirmation came during a meeting between Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, and H.E. Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the NA of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba, on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland on July 29.

The meeting reflected a strong mutual resolve to uphold the legacy of friendship and collaboration, and to continue contributing to global peace, multilateralism, and the well-being of future generations.

The two leaders emphasised the need to further strengthen cooperation across all sectors, and agreed that such efforts are essential to promote peace, stability, and inclusive development for the benefit of both people when the world are facing geopolitical and economic tensions as well as emerging non-traditional security threats such as climate change and pandemics.

H.E. Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández congratulated Cambodia on the recent declaration of a ceasefire with Thailand, and reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to continued mutual support on the international stage.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Cuba.
