Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the National Defence H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha will co-chair with his Thai counterpart the General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting scheduled to be held in Cambodia on Monday next week.
This forthcoming meeting was confirmed by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, at a press briefing this morning at 11:00am.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reaffirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia and its armed forces have remained fully committed to implementing all terms of the ceasefire agreement, which include: Complete cessation of all hostilities; No mobilisation or deployment of additional troops; Both armies must remain at their positions as of 24:00, July 28, 2025; Establishment of working groups to serve as communication channels.
She also highlighted several positive outcomes as a result of this ceasefire:
1. The ceasefire has been effectively and peacefully implemented.
2. Both Cambodian and Thai armed forces have demonstrated mutual respect and cooperation in adhering to the terms agreed upon at the recent regional-level meeting.
3. Malaysia, as the current Chair of ASEAN, has played a vital and proactive role by dispatching a high-level delegation, led by the Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, to Cambodia on July 29, 2025.
4. Today, the leadership of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, along with a delegation comprising foreign diplomats, military attachés and relevant stakeholders, is visiting the Cambodian-Thai border to observe the situation firsthand. This delegation, led by H.E. Lt. Gen. Rath Dararath, Secretary of State for the Ministry of National Defence, includes representatives from 13 countries.
