Cambodia, Lao LPR Commit to Promoting Bilateral Legislative Cooperation

Cambodia and Lao PDR have committed to promoting bilateral legislative cooperation through the implementation of all memorandums of understanding for the benefits of the two nations and peoples.

The commitment was made by Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, and H.E. Dr. Sounthone Xayachack, Vice President of the NA of Lao PDR, on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland on July 29.

During the meeting, Samdech Khuon Sudary and Dr. Sounthone Xayachack expressed deep appreciation for the traditional ties, longstanding friendship, and good neighbourliness between Cambodia and the Lao PDR, which have been elevated to a comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership, bringing tangible and growing benefits to both countries.

The two women leaders underscored that the friendship and solidarity between Cambodia and the Lao PDR, rooted in mutual trust, mutual respect, and mutual understanding, have brought prosperity to both peoples and strengthened multilateralism — a crucial pillar as the world faces a critical juncture of geopolitical and economic competition.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation between the legislative and executive bodies of the two countries. They also pledged to promote the implementation of all existing memorandums of understanding and bilateral agreements to achieve concrete results, particularly in the fields of trade, economy, education, and people-to-people exchange, for the mutual benefit of both nations.
