Cambodia Hosts Secretariat Meeting between Cambodian 4th Military Region and Thai 2nd Army Area

The Meeting of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) Secretariats of Cambodia’s 4th Military Region and Thailand’s 2nd Army Area convened this morning at the Cambodian-Thai Liaison group hall in O’ Smach International Border Gate in Oddar Meanchey province.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, the Cambodian Secretariat was led by Brigadier General Nith Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Military Region, and the Thai Secretariat was headed by Major General Kamphanat Waphansuk, Chief of Staff of the 2nd Army Area.

The meeting covered three main points: the introduction of the composition of the Coordination Group (CG) of both sides, the ongoing commitment to de-escalate tensions, and discussions on the preparatory work for the upcoming RBC meeting scheduled for Oct. 15-17, 2025.

It is also important to emphasise that this meeting aligns with the mandate of the General Border Committee (GBC) of the two countries, as well as in the spirit of the agreements achieved at the first extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand RBC held on Aug. 27, 2025, between the 4th Military Region of Cambodia and the 2nd Army Area of Thailand.

The meeting’s core objectives are to promote the continued full and effective implementation of the ceasefire, reinforce the commitment to de-escalate tensions along the border, and seek practical cooperation to enhance peace, stability, and a speedy return to normalcy between the two countries.
