Cambodia, WB Discuss Supports on Job Replacement and Skills for Returnees from Thailand

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) and the World Bank (WB) have discussed and exchanged on immediate and medium-term support from the World Bank for returnees from Thailand, including jobs placement and skills.

The exchange took place in a meeting here on Oct. 28 between H.E. Heng Sour, Cambodian Minister of MoLVT, and Ms. Tania Meyer, WB Country Manager for Cambodia.

H.E. Heng Sour valued and appreciated WB’s partnership on human capital, jobs, and skills, adding that discussion aligns with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)’s priorities on employment, labour market, TVET, and inclusive growth, following the structured approach used in recent partner briefings.

He also acknowledged WB’s longstanding, close cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, especially with the MoLVT, especially the Cambodia Skills for Better Jobs.

In response, Ms. Tania Meyer appreciated the RGC’s commitment to human resource development, reaffirming the WB’s unwavering support to Cambodia’s workforce development and competitiveness enhancement initiatives.

Both sides also agreed to continue their partnership and further strengthen cooperation for the socio-economic development of Cambodia.
