Cambodia, Hungary Deepen Ties with Parliamentary Cooperation Agreements


The National Assembly of Cambodia and the National Assembly of Hungary on Oct. 27 formalised their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations by signing two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) focused on parliamentary cooperation and partnership.

The signing ceremony followed a high-level bilateral meeting between Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary.

The first MoU, covering parliamentary cooperation and partnership, was signed by Samdech Khuon Sudary and H.E. László Kövér.

The second agreement, focused specifically on cooperation between the Secretariats-General of the two legislative bodies, was inked by H.E. Dr. Keo Piseth, Permanent Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian National Assembly and H.E. György Such, Secretary-General of the National Assembly of Hungary.

These agreements are intended to be a framework for collaboration at all institutional levels. Key areas of focus include: Facilitating exchanges of visits; Promoting experience sharing and mutual information dissemination; Partnership promotion; Implementing capacity-building programmes for parliamentary officials in both countries.

Both leaders hailed the signing as a new historical chapter in the long-standing relationship between Cambodia and Hungary.

“We are confident that these MoUs will bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations,” the leaders stated, emphasising that the agreements are designed to further strengthen people-to-people connections through their representative parliamentary institutions.
