Frontline Situation Remains Calm, Defence Spokesperson Affirms

The frontline situation in Military Regions 4 and 5 along the Cambodia-Thailand border remains calm as of 8:00 a.m. this morning, following the entry into force of the ceasefire at 12:00 p.m. (local time) on Dec. 27.

The situation was confirmed by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, during a press briefing held this morning.

She reaffirmed that the Cambodian armed forces will continue to closely monitor developments and remain strong and fully vigilant in carrying out their duties to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The spokeswoman also reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to strictly adhering to the ceasefire agreement of July 28, 2025, the Joint Declaration of Oct. 26, 2025, and the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting on Dec. 27, 2025.

According to the Joint Statement, both sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, the resumption of peaceful border demarcation and demining activities, respect for international law, and the return of detained Cambodian soldiers, in line with the U.S.- and ASEAN-facilitated Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.
