Preah Sihanouk Province Boosts Tourism Appeal with New Floating Resort and Water Sports Hub

Cambodia is diversifying its coastal tourism offerings with the development of the “Toeksab Nature Table,” a new floating resort and water sports complex in Preah Sihanouk province aimed at drawing a higher volume of international and domestic travellers.

Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak and Preah Sihanouk Governor H.E. Mang Sineth conducted a site inspection on Sunday to review the progress of the project, located in Smach Deng village within Sangkat Ream of the newly established Kampong Som city.

The development, which began construction in January 2024, is positioned as a strategic addition to the province’s tourism portfolio. It features floating piers, a variety of water sports, and high-end dining options specialising in “healthy” and European cuisine.

“This project is designed to create a unique destination that highlights our natural beauty while offering modern recreational activities,” said Mr. Tay Bunthong, the project’s developer. “Our goal is to stimulate the local economy by providing a new anchor for tourism in the Ream area.”

Governor Mang Sineth highlighted the site’s ecological appeal, noting that the resort is integrated into a landscape of natural creeks and mangrove forests. He urged travellers to explore the province’s expanding range of attractions, which now span coastal beaches, offshore islands, and inland national parks.

The initiative comes as the Royal Government of Cambodia prioritises “smokeless industry” growth to bolster the national economy.

Minister Huot Hak praised the private sector’s role in developing innovative tourism products, stating that such investments are vital for improving local livelihoods and enhancing the province’s competitive edge in the regional travel market.

The “Toeksab Nature Table” is expected to serve as a key landmark in Kampong Som city, signaling Preah Sihanouk’s shift toward more diverse, environmentally-integrated leisure experiences.
