Timor-Leste Prime Minister Sends Letter of Gratitude to Cambodian PM for Medical Assistance


H.E. Taur Matan Ruak, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, has sent a message of gratitude to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the medical assistance to combat COVID-19.

“It was a great privilege to receive Your Excellency’s letter addressed to me on 26th November 2020, conveying the message of strong commitment and solidarity of Your Excellency and the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia to assist Timor-Leste at this crucial and challenging time,” he wrote in his letter dated Dec. 1.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Timor-Leste, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Your Excellency and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the 1 million masks and other medical facilities being provided to the people of Timor-Leste,” he added.

“This gesture of solidarity marks a step forward in the bilateral relations of our countries and affirms the sense of sharing and caring between the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the people of Timor-Leste. As you rightly convey, it is this cooperation that will enable us to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic,” he underlined.

“I seize this opportunity to also express my gratitude for Your Excellency’s unwavering support of Timor-Leste’s bid to join ASEAN and the WTO throughout the years. I continue to count on this support in the process leading up to the adoption of Timor-Leste as the eleventh member state of ASEAN,” said the Premier.
