A donation of 200,000 doses of vaccines (Sinovac) of the Kingdom of Cambodia were delivered this morning to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) to contribute with the latter to combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
The handover ceremony took place at the Cambodian-Lao international check point Trapaing Kreal-Nong Nok Kien, under the presidency of H.E. Ouch Borith, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia and H.E. Dr. Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, Minister of Health of Lao PDR.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lao health minister expressed the gratitude of the Government and people of Lao PDR to the Royal Government and people of Cambodia for the precious donation.
“In the spirit of our traditional solidarity and friendship between our two sister countries, the Royal Government of Cambodia would like to present to the Government of the Lao P.D.R an additional package of 200,000 doses of vaccines (Sinovac) to contribute to your country’s endeavor to fight against this deadly disease,” wrote Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia in his letter dated Sept. 27 to his Lao counterpart H.E. Phankham Viphavanh.
Cambodia has so far donated necessary medical materials to Laos and some other countries in the region to contribute to their efforts in combatting the pandemic.
