National Road No. 3 to Put Into Official Use in March Next Year


National Road No. 3 (NR3), stretching over 135 kilometres linking Choam Chao roundabout to Kampot city, is scheduled to put into official use in March next year, Ministry of Public Works and Transport said.
The update was shared by H.E. Khan Manner, Secretary of States at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, while leading delegation to inspect the installation of surveillance cameras along the NR3 on Nov. 8.
The inauguration ceremony will be held under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, he said.
The construction and improvement of NR3 is divided into two stages, the first phase of 70 kilometres long is from Choam Chao, Phnom Penh to Bek Kus area, Takeo province, with four lanes, and the second phase of 64.8 kilometres long from Bek Kus area to Kampot city, with two lanes.
The road has been built by the China Bridge and Road Corporation under technical supervision by Guangzhou Construction Technical Consulting Co., Ltd. with a total budget of US$219.9 million, a concessional financing from the People’s Republic of China.
The road was opened for temporary use after the construction was completed in the middle of this year.
