Cambodia to Continue Promoting “Women, Peace and Security” Agenda

Cambodia will continue to promote the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda, reaffirmed H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a Facebook post this morning.

Cambodia, once a war-torn country, has deployed almost 8,000 peacekeepers to nine countries since 2006, he said, underlining that the Kingdom is also particularly proud that its women have contributed to peacekeeping operations in other parts of the world.

“In this connection, we express our sincere congratulations to Lt. Col. CHEA Maysaros, who has recently been awarded with the UN Medal for Force Commander Commendation along with other recognitions for her courage and determination. She is currently deployed to South Sudan and was featured in the Women4Multilateralism campaign in Geneva this year,” he added.

“We are proud of you and many others who are fulfilling their noble mission for global peace and security,” the Cambodia top diplomat said.

According to the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the UN Office at Geneva, the Women4Multilateralism campaign took place in Geneva from Mar. 8-10, 2022. This campaign aims to emphasise the crucial and meaningful role of more than 110 women with a firm commitment to building a better world for all.
