A priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia is to digitalise the country’s health sector and the endeavour has become more needful in the context of COVID-19 containment toward a sustainable recovery.
H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, made the remark while presiding over the Project Outcome Appreciation and Dissemination Workshop on Leveraging Technology to Upgrade Cambodian Healthcare in Private Sector and Smart Green Hospital on Mar. 29.
U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. W. Patrick Murphy co-chaired the dissemination of the U.S. supported project achievement with the health secretary of state.
According to H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, the project has not only promoted digital health service at private hospitals in Phnom Penh, Battambang and Siem Reap, but also built them as role models for green and smart technology application.
Thanking the U.S. people and government through H.E. W. Patrick Murphy for the support, the secretary of state underlined that the support is timely contributing to the Cambodian government’s effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to recover from the pandemic.
The use of digital technology, she named a few, allows online health check-up appointment so that the doctors can provide their service according to the pre-arranged schedule, and enables teleconsultation that reduce overcrowded hospitals as well as mitigate COVID-19 spread.
Guided by its strategic direction, Ministry of Health has so far introduced a number of key digital programmes such as Patient Management and Registration System (PMRS), Health Information System (HIS), Cambodia Laboratory Information System (CamLIS), health financing management system and beyond, she added.
H.E. Dr. Or Vandine also urged all key players in Cambodia’s health sector to continue contributing to promote its modernisation for more convenient, inclusive and effective services.
