Monkeypox: No Case Recorded in Cambodia, but Stay Vigilant

Though Cambodia has not recorded any detection case of the Monkeypox disease, the Ministry of Health has called for vigilance among the public and health authorities.

The alert was underlined recently by H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of Sate and Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health along with a self-explanatory prevention measure recommended for the public to keep themselves safe from the disease.

She encouraged all hospitals and health centres to carefully monitor and report any suspected cases for technical investigation and to strengthen their surveillance system.

The secretary of state also urged for close attention to the in-coming passengers to Cambodia by scrutinising for suspected cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, in most Monkeypox cases, the symptoms of the disease will subside by itself, however, for some few cases, the treatment could be complicated, possibly leading to death.

Monkeypox is emerging as a threat for global public health, and it is evolving rapidly especially from the tropical areas of Central and West Africa to other parts of the world.
