Cambodia, Vietnam Agree to Further Boost Bilateral Cooperation

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam have agreed to further deepen their cooperation in all domains for the interest of their people.

The agreement was made by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), during a phone call this morning with H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee.

During the 30-minute phone call, both leaders spoke highly of the cooperation to successfully organise the celebration of the 45th anniversary of Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s path to topple the Pol Pot genocidal regime, at the border area of Thbong Khmum and Binh Phuoc provinces on June 20.

They also praised each other government’s successful efforts in containing and preventing the COVID-19 spread, resulting in the reopening of socio-economic activities.

H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his congratulations to CPP on its 71st founding anniversary to be celebrated on June 28 and its overwhelming victory in the 5th Commune/Sangkat Council Election on June 5, 2022.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong for his phone call to congratulate the CPP’s 71st founding anniversary and election victory.

Founded on June 28, 1951, CPP was formerly known as the Kampuchea People’s Revolutionary Party. It was renamed CPP in 1991. The party has played an indispensable role in the peace-seeking process, reconstruction and development of Cambodia, and now in the country’s efforts to maintain peace, defend independence and boost more development.
