Cambodia Starts Hosting 12 Important Meetings Today


There are in total 12 important meetings between ASEAN and its dialogue partners to be held today as Cambodia is hosting the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (55th AMM) and Related Meetings.

The information was shared by H.E. Kung Phoak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Spokesperson of 55th AMM and Related Meetings at a press conference this morning.

“Today, there are 11 meetings between ASEAN Foreign Ministers and each of their dialogue partners and the ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting,” he said.

Those meetings include the ASEAN-China, ASEAN-ROK, ASEAN-Japan, ASEAN-UK, ASEAN-India, ASEAN-Canada, ASEAN-Australia, ASEAN-New Zealand, ASEAN-EU, ASEAN-U.S., ASEAN-Russia Ministerial Meetings, and the 23th ASEAN-Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ meeting, he pointed out.

On ASEAN-China and ASEAN-Australia Ministerial Meetings, all foreign ministers will discuss and adopt action plans to further enhance their cooperation in addition to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

For the ASEAN-New Zealand and ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meetings, all foreign ministers will adopt the action plans to implement their strategic partnership, and they will also discuss the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit in Brussels, Belgium next year.

In the ASEAN-Japan, ASEAN-ROK, ASEAN-U.S. and ASEAN-India Ministerial Meetings, they will touch on the enhancement of the current relations to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

For the ASEAN-Canada Ministerial Meeting, all foreign ministers will exchange views on the plan to upgrade the level of their relationship to the Strategic Partnership this year, while in the ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting, they will address the concept document on holding a commemorative summit next year.

During the ASEAN-ROK Ministerial Meeting, the new government’s policies aimed at expanding relations with ASEAN in line with the win-win concept will be put on table.

Separately, at the ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting, the foreign ministers will discuss about the organisation of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-India dialogue relations.

For ASEAN-UK and ASEAN-Russia Ministerial Meetings, details to adopt some action plans to boost more cooperation and the way to maintain stability and peace in the region and the world will be discussed.

For the ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, all ministers will adopt the new action plan for 2023-2027 to promote their cooperation focusing more on public health, SMEs development to fuel post-pandemic recovery.
