ASEAN, U.S. Committed to Strengthen Cyber Security and Transnational Crime


The ASEAN and the U.S. have been committed to further strengthening their cooperation, especially in cyber security and transnational crime.

The commitment was made during the ASEAN-U.S. Ministerial Meeting held in Phnom Penh on Aug. 4, according to H.E. Kung Phoak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Spokesperson for the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (55th AMM) and Related Meetings.

The ministerial meeting also discussed research and capacity building, and cooperation on environment, and climate change, he added.

ASEAN member states supported the elevation of the ASEAN-U.S. relations to comprehensive strategic partnership.

The meeting also agreed on cooperation on e-commerce, particularly on innovation, smart city, and innovative green economy in the near future, underlined the spokesperson.
