National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin conferred the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Nepal and the United States with observer status in the ASEAN-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) on Wednesday.
Receiving the observer status were Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Speaker Prof. Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Nepal National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and Gregory W. Meeks, Chair of the U.S. House Of Representative Foreign Affairs Committee.
Samdech Heng Samrin conferred the status in his capacity as the current president of AIPA, which is holding its annual general assembly in Phnom Penh this week — the first face-to-face assembly since 2019.
