Cambodia-US Relations Now Better Than Ever, Says PM Hun Sen

The Premier made the comments while receiving a delegation of U.S.-ASEAN Business Council led by its Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director H.E. Michael W. Michalak, here at the Peace Palace this afternoon, according to his Personal Assistant H.E. Eang Sophalleth.

The good relations were reflected by the increase in two-way trade, explained Samdech Techo Hun Sen, adding that American people use Made-in-Cambodia products while Cambodian people have jobs.

These are what we have to boost, Samdech Techo Prime Minister underlined.

For his part, H.E. Michael W. Michalak congratulated Cambodia on the success of its ASEAN chairmanship last year and the growing Cambodia-US relations in all domains as well as the ASEAN-US relations.

He also wished the Kingdom success in hosting the SEA Games in May and the general elections in July this year.

H.E. Michael W. Michalak informed Samdech Hun Sen of his visit, the purpose of which is to express support for the post-COVID ecnomic recovery plan by seeking ways to improve the possibility to get funds for local SMEs and seriously affected industries.

Another objective of the visit is to enhance the US private sector as a key source for knowledge, best practices and technology, which supports the Royal Government of Cambodia’s endeavours in preparing and implementing economic reform aiming at strengthening the existing industries, increasing value-added to services and industries and supporting the efforts in capacity building, human resource and SME training, and youth leadership programme.
