PM Hun Sen Suggests a Policy to Support Athletes Becoming Disabled after Competition

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has proposed a study to develop a policy to support Cambodian athletes who became disabled after competition.

At the 5th gathering and solidarity dinner with more than 4,000 sports leaders, coaches and national athletes at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre here this evening, the Premier asked all relevant parties, especially the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia to work together to review some conditions related to athletes being injured and disabled after the games.

“Our soldiers, our police officers, when they lost their life or became disabled due to an operation, they always receive support from the Royal Government, so it should be the same for the athletes to increase their confidence […],” said Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

In mid-February this year, Samdech Techo Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Health to provide free treatment for injured athletes, particularly footballers and boxers, by arranging several hundred beds for their treatment at the Techo Santepheap National Hospital.
