Lao President to Pay State Visit to Cambodia This Week


H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, will pay a three-day state visit to Cambodia this week, at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during his stay in Cambodia from May 4 to 6, H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith will call on His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

The Lao president will also receive courtesy calls by Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate of Cambodia and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly.

H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will hold a bilateral meeting to touch base on the further deepening of bilateral cooperation along with some regional and international issues of common concerns.

The Lao top leader will lay wreathes at the Independence Monument and the Royal Memorial Statute of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk “Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh,” the late King-Father of Cambodia.

On May 5, H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith will attend the Opening Ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, the historic landmark Cambodia hosts from May 5 to 17, and June 3-9.

The state visit of H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith will further consolidate the existing excellent relations, good neighbourliness, fraternal ties, comprehensive and long-lasting strategy partnership for the mutual benefits of the two peoples.
