Cambodia Hopes to Attract More French Tourists

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has asked the Embassy of France to attract more French tourists to visit Cambodia, especially Phnom Penh.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony of Memorial for the Dead of World War I (1914-1918) in Sangkat Sras Chak, Khan Daun Penh, in front of the Embassy of France in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that French tourists can come to this memorial area to pay tribute to their ancestors who sacrificed their lives during the World War I.

“I hope that H.E. Jacques Pellet (French Ambassador to Cambodia) will help attract more French tourists and ask them to come and lay flowers here,” the Premier underlined. “This is a good point of the people-to-people relations.”

In the first five months of 2023, Cambodia received a total of 2.16 million foreign tourists, among them some 47,000 were French visitors.

France is the 8th biggest tourism market for Cambodia, after Thailand, Vietnam, China, Laos, the U.S., South Korea, and Indonesia.
