Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Dr. Om Romny, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), attended the Southeast Asia Policy Dialogue on Early Childhood Care and Education (SEAPD on ECCE) held in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 25-26 under the theme “Transforming ECCE in Southeast Asia”.

According to MoEYS, the SEAPD on ECCE was aimed to raise awareness of the importance of ECCE and parent education on ECCE, share experiences and best practices on ECCE and parent education between policy makers, policy implementers, researchers and other actors in the ASEAN and the world, and discuss ECCE-related policies among the ASEAN member countries.

Speaking at the event, H.E. Dr. Om Romny highlighted the priority strategies of Cambodia’s National Policy on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) to promote the ECCD revolution.

At this regional meeting, the ASEAN Education Ministers endorsed the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on Early Childhood Care and Education in Southeast Asia, reaffirming their firm commitment to increasing investment and close cooperation on the ECCE at the national and ASEAN levels to provide full development to young children.

The ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on Early Childhood Care and Education in Southeast Asia will be submitted for adoption by the ASEAN Leaders during the 43rd ASEAN Summit in September this year.
