PM Says His Visit to China is to Confirm Royal Government’s Stance

Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, stated that his recent visit to China was to confirm the position of the new Royal Government of Cambodia.

Cambodia’s stance is based on independence, sovereignty and laws, Samdech Thipadei said at a get-together with some 18,000 workers and employees from 18 factories and enterprises in Bati district, Takeo province.

The Premier also reiterated Cambodia’s irreversible position to support the One China Policy, adding that among the 193 member countries of the United Nations, 181 have adhered to this One China Policy, therefore Cambodia’s stance is not wrong.

“Is it wrong for Cambodians to make more friends internationally?” he asked. “We should be happy that we make more and more friends.”

For trade exchange, he continued, if it is bad to trade with China, why the U.S. and Europe need to do so.

“Our country is small, we must expand our relations with the international community,” he added, assuring his compatriots that respecting each other’s sovereignty and interests on an equal footing is a must when he negotiates with the international community.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet paid an official visit to Beijing and attended the opening ceremony of the 20th ASEAN-China Expo in Nanning, the People’s Republic of China, from Sept. 14-17, 2023.
