Cambodia expects a medal for the dragon boat race “Canoeing and Rowing” at the 19th Asian Games happening in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, the People’s Republic of China, from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8.
The expectation was shared by Mr. Kong Sokpheap, Assistant Coach of the Cambodian International Traditional Boat “Dragon Boat” Team of the Cambodian Canoeing and Rowing Federation.
The Cambodian team will compete in three disciplines: men’s 200m, men’s 500m, and men’s 1,000m, and they are hopeful to win the medal for the men’s 200m thanks to their strong experience and hard training.
According to Mr. Kong Sokpheap, 14 dragon boat racers and 3 coaches will depart for the games on Oct. 1, and the team will compete in 200m, 500m, and 1,000m disciplines on Oct. 5, 6, and 7, respectively.
Cambodia won 2 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals for the dragon boat race at the 32nd SEA Games 2023 that it hosted.
