Cambodian PM: Health Equity Fund to Benefit 7.4 million People


Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said this morning that the Royal Government to expand the scope of the Health Equity Fund aims at benefiting 7.4 million people.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony to officially put into use Techo Santepheap National Hospital together with the official launch of the 1st program of the 6-point priority policy at Khan Prek Phnov, Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the Royal Government decided to expand the volume of the Health Equity Fund to 490,000 vulnerable households, equivalent to 1.8 million, therefore there are 7.4 million people in total will benefit.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that the program to expand the scope of the Health Equity Fund for Vulnerable Families is one of two sub-programs of the policy to expand health care services in the kingdom.

Cambodian Premier went on to say that those people will receive free health care services from the Royal Government, including: out-patient, contraception, hospitalization and emergency services as well as minor surgery, major surgery and childbirth.

Samdech Thipadei also expressed his confidence in helping the Cambodian people by asking them to entrust in the Royal Government, whether in this mandate or in the next mandate, they will always be with the people forever.

Health Equity Fund a funding mechanism that gives vulnerable populations access to health services. This above-mentioned service is to ensure that those eligible had access to affordable quality health services.
