Cambodian Foreign Minister and Chinese Ambassador Laud Both Countries’ Relationship


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea had a productive discussion with H.E. Wang Wentian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia, during the latter’s courtesy call at the ministry on Tuesday.

Both sides spoke highly of the perpetual growth of Cambodia-China relations and cooperation, benefiting the two peoples and countries, and agreed to effectively implement the consensus reached by the two countries’ top leadership, including (1) the launch of “Diamond Cooperation” and (2) the establishment of the “Industrial Development Corridor” and “Fish and Rice Corridor” as concurred by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia and H.E. President XI Jinping in February 2023, pointed out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a press release this evening.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the fruitful meetings between Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister and Chinese leaders, particularly H.E. President XI Jinping and H.E. Premier LI Qiang, during the two visits of Samdech Thipadei to China, the source added.

They also agreed to initiate various activities to celebrate the People-to-People Exchange Year in 2024 to further attract more Chinese tourists to Cambodia, concluded the press release.
