The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) launched here on Tuesday the Guidelines for National Social Assistance Programme Framework for Family Package and the Guidelines for Social Protection Framework for Emergency Response, to ensure financial security for poor and vulnerable Cambodians.
The launching ceremony was held under the presidency of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
The launch reflects the Royal Government’s continued attention to the people’s well-being, the Premier underlined.
The RGC has so far introduced a series of social support policies, such the National Social Security Fund, the National Veterans Fund, and so on, he pointed out.
“The Royal Government will leave no one behind. The Royal Government has been proactive in the past 40 years, from the struggle for national liberation to national unity and assistance to the citizens,” Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said.
The Family Package is a permanent programme which will provide monthly cash support for vulnerable families in several categories, including pregnant women and children under two years old, people with disabilities, people aged 60 and older, and people living with HIV/AIDS. It will also grant scholarships to underprivileged students from grades 1 to 12.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to instruct the Ministry of Planning to strengthen the identification mechanism of poor families at the people’s request and to ensure that the mechanism covers the actual target groups that need to be supported by the Royal Government.
