France Announces 200-Million-Euro Support for Cambodia

France has confirmed to provide some 200 million Euros to Cambodia to support her vocational training, energy, and water treatment sectors.

The confirmation was made by H.E. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, in a joint statement after the bilateral official talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, in Paris this afternoon (Paris time).

The French President also praised Cambodia for sending peacekeeping forces to join UN missions, a major contribution in Asia as well as for her position against Russia in the war with Ukraine.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked the French side for the warm welcome, stressing that France is the first country for his European trip as the new Prime Minister of Cambodia. Moreover, he added, in just 13 months, three top Cambodian leaders visited France, including His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni on Nov. 13, 2023, former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Dec. 14, 2022, and he himself now. “This shows the depth of Cambodia-France friendship,” he underlined.

The Prime Minister recalled France’s key contribution to the peace-seeking, reconstruction and development process of Cambodia, reaffirming the Kingdom’s clear position in cultivating and continuing to strengthen the relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Samdech Thipadei also laid stress on the significant role of both nations’ private sector, noticing their growing relations, particularly in the fields of investment and trade.

Besides, the Cambodian Premier wished France success in organising the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics as well as the Francophonie Summit.
