Cambodia, Indonesia to Boost Their Parliamentary, Trade and People-to-People Relations

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Indonesia have vowed to promote their parliamentary and trade ties as well as their people-to-people relations.

The commitment was made during the courtesy meeting here at the National Assembly (NA) Palace this morning between Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the Cambodian NA, and newly appointed Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Santo Darmosumarto.

Both sides shared the same idea on the importance of good relations between the two countries and noted that they still have great potential to further strengthen and expand their cooperation in the fields of diplomacy, trade, education, agriculture, tourism, especially people-to-people relations that will bring benefits to both nations.

Samdech Khuon Sudary thanked Indonesia for its support to Cambodia, and affirmed the NA’s readiness to cooperate with the Embassy of Indonesia to deepen the relationship and cooperation between the two countries.

Indonesia ranks sixth among foreign investors in Cambodia. The two-way trade volume was recorded at more than US$948 million in 2022. In the first four months of 2023, the figure reached over US$392 million. Indonesia is also a market for Cambodian rice. In this regard, the Cambodian NA president encouraged the Indonesian side to consider importing more agricultural products from Cambodia.

H.E. Santo Darmosumarto pledged to do his best to foster the cooperation between the two ASEAN nations, and enhance their parliamentary relations, during his diplomatic term in Cambodia.
