Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has confirmed that Cambodia will host the CLV Summit in late 2024 to boost the cooperation between the three neighbouring nations – Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
The Cambodian Premier made the confirmation at a joint press conference held in Vientiane, Laos this afternoon, after his bilateral summit with his Lao counterpart H.E. Sonexay Siphandone.
Besides the CLV Summit, Cambodia will also host a CLV defence ministers’ meeting as well as the second humanitarian disaster relief exercise at the end of this year.
The CLV Summit aims to bolster and consolidate friendly relations, tighten solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, with a focus on socio-economic development, defence-security cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges for the sustainable development of the three countries and the region.
The CLV area includes Cambodia’s four provinces (Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri, and Kratie), Laos’ four provinces (Attapeu, Sekong, Salavan, and Champasak), and Vietnam’s five provinces (Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Nong, and Binh Phuoc).
It covers 144,600 square kilometres and has a total population of 6.7 million.
