Singapore Top Leaders Congratulate Samdech Techo Hun Sen on His Election as Senate President


The Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore have extended their congratulations to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on his election as the President of the 5th legislature of the Senate.

“Congratulations on the Cambodian People’s Party’s victory at the 2024 Senate Election and your appointment as Senate President. This is a testament of the Cambodian people’s trust and confidence in your leadership,” H.E. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore, wrote in his congratulatory message AKP received this afternoon.

The Singaporean Premier also spoke highly of the long-standing friendship between Singapore and Cambodia, including at the Parliamentary level. “I am sure you will continue to give our relationship your full support. The upcoming visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Hun Manet will further strengthen the ties between our countries as we work together to advance mutual interests for the benefit of our peoples and the region,” he underlined.

For his part, H.E. Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, said the two countries share excellent and long-standing relations. “I look forward to working with you to strengthen relations between our legislative bodies as well as amongst the member parliaments in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA),” he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia, was unanimously elected by the 62 senators as President of the 5th legislature of the Senate of Cambodia on April 3.
