Cambodia Attends 80th Session of ESCAP in Bangkok


A Cambodian delegation of the National Committee for Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) attends the 80th session of the UN-ESCAP to be held from April 22-26 in Bangkok, Thailand.

H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and President of the National Committee for ESCAP, leads the senior Cambodian team for the gathering under the theme of ‘Leveraging Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific’.

As planned, on April 19, accompanied by the Cambodian ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Ly Thuch is expected to hold a cooperation discussion with the UN Under Secretary-General and ESCAP Executive Director H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana.

On April 22, in the morning, he will accompany Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in the opening ceremony of the UN-ESCAP’s 80th session, and in the afternoon, he will lead the session’s plenary meeting.

On April 23, the senior minister will deliver a keynote address in a meeting among the participating least-developed nations.

On the margins of the meeting, H.E. Ly Thuch, representing Cambodia as the host of the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World (of the Ottawa Treaty) in late 2024, plans to meet bilaterally with countries in the Pacific Islands and others.
