Minister of Culture and Fine Arts H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona has welcomed the success of a documentary film titled “Elvis of Cambodia: Legacy of Sin Sisamuth.”
In a courtesy meeting here on July 1 with Mr. Chris G. Parkhurst, the documentary film’s producer, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona expressed congratulations over the successful screening of “Elvis of Cambodia: The Legacy of Sinn Sisamuth” at the opening ceremony of the 13th Cambodia International Film Festival on June 25 at the Chaktomuk Conference Hall in Phnom Penh, which received strong support from both national and international audiences.
At the same time, H.E. Minister spoke highly of this documentary work, which reminded the history, masterpieces and great talent of Mr. Sinn Sisamuth, widely known as the “Golden Voice Emperor” of Cambodia, and his family as a memory for the next generation.
For his part, Mr. Chris G. Parkhurst thanked the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts for supporting the documentary film production, and sought the ministry’s authorisation to continue to promote the film throughout Cambodia, especially in rural areas, to provide opportunities for local people to find out more about Mr. Sinn Sisamuth.
Mr. Sinn Sisamuth (1933-1976) was a Cambodian famous singer and songwriter active between the 1950s and 1970s.
