Cambodia Issues 200,000 Riel Banknote to Mark 20-Year Anniversary of Coronation Day

The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a sub-decree on the circulation of a new banknote of 200,000 Riel (approximately US$50) to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Coronation Day of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni as the King of Cambodia.

The commemorative banknote is allowed to circulate along with other existing banknotes across the country, according to the sub-decree signed on Oct. 16 by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.

This new banknote is 170 mm long and 76 mm wide with three dominant colours – brown, orange and pink, said the National Bank of Cambodia in a Prakas (official announcement) made public this morning.

The commemorative banknote depicts the portrait of His Majesty the King along with that of Her Majesty the Queen-Mother on the front, and the picture of His Majesty the King and Bayon Temple in Siem Reap province on the back, the same source pointed out.

“Congratulations to the 20-Year Anniversary of the Coronation Day of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni (29 October 2004 – 20 October 2024)” is also found on the back of the new banknote.

In 2019, the Royal Government released the 15,000 Riel banknote to mark the 15th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Coronation Day.
