MAFF Cooperates with Private Sector to Stabilise Rice Prices in Northwestern Cambodia

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) has announced a new partnership with the private sector to stabilise rice prices for farmers in the northwestern region of Cambodia.

The ministry and the private sector — Cambodian Green (CG), a leading rice miller and exporter based in Battambang province — signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Oct. 30 under the witness of the MAFF Minister H.E. Dith Tina.

“The signing of the MoU with CG company is an important task in stabilising the rice sector in the northwest, which is a new context to reduce costs and increase profits for both farmers and consumers,” said H.E. Dith Tina.

According to the MAFF, farmers in the northwest provinces of Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear and Siem Reap will benefit from this initiative.

Separately, the ministry also signed another MoU with WWF on dolphin conservation cooperation.

The minister praised the joint efforts of partner organisations and sub-national authorities, especially local people who are involved in protecting natural resources.
