The “Phnom Penh Peace Declaration” reflecting the key outcomes of the discussions at the 12th General Assembly of International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) was adopted on Nov. 23 at the end of the meeting, held at the January 7 Palace in Phnom Penh.
The adoption of this declaration was officially announced by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Vice President of Cambodian People’s Party and President of the 12th General Assembly of ICAPP.
This declaration was acknowledged by valuable presence of all leaders and representatives of political parties at the 12th ICAPP General Assembly here in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the comprehensive reports on the outcome of the plenary sessions, the Roundtable Discussion among Political Parties, the 3rd Meeting of Asian Cultural Council (ACC) and the 7th Meeting of Media Forum.
“I noted with great satisfaction, the adoptions of the Phnom Penh Peace Declration, and the ACC Phnom Penh Statement, which demonstrate the common aspirations, commitment and collaborations among ICAPP members toward a quest for peace and reconciliations,” he said.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also reiterated that peace remains and should remain the prevailing factor in every society. ICAPP has done a wonderful job as the leading and largest organisation of Asian political parties in driving peace and promoting reconciliations, coexistence and social harmony and shared prosperity for mankind.
Cambodian national reconciliation, integration, and total peace in the late 1998 have paved the way for effective post-conflict reconstruction, deep and comprehensive reforms, and re-integration into regional and global communities, he underlined.
Peace has allowed Cambodia to become an active player in advancing multilateralism and the rules-based international order, he added.
The 12th ICAPP General Assembly was concluded successfully on Saturday and the 13th General Assembly of ICAPP will be hosted by the Republic of Korea in 2026.
