Australia will continue to support and cooperate with Cambodia on mine clearance, said visiting H.E. Kim Beazley AC, Chairman of the Australian War Memorial, when he paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Siem Reap province on Nov. 25.
H.E. Kim Beazley AC, also former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Australia, recalled the good and long-standing relationship and cooperation between Australia and Cambodia in many areas, and commended the Kingdom for her excellent organisation of the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked H.E. Kim Beazley AC for his participation in the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit, stressing that his presence reflects Australia’s willingness and commitment to participate in the elimination of anti-personnel mines.
The Premier expressed his satisfaction with the Cambodia-Australia bilateral relations in many areas, and thanked the people and Government of Australia for their support for Cambodia’s peace seeking and reconstruction process, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of Cambodia.
