Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said the Royal Government will continue to support and encourage for the investment in education and health as these sectors will never end.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the University of Health Sciences Hospital under the concessional loan from the Government of the Republic of Korea, in Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said human resources are the government’s top priority and that investment in health is very important.
“A developed country must have human capital, and when we talk about human capital, it is about capacity and health”, he underlined. “Investment in health sector is an investment that increases the nation’s assets. A healthy citizen is an asset, and a sick citizen is a burden to the family and the nation”.
“A healthy citizen can help himself or herself, help their family, help society, and help the nation”, he added.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet further said the construction site is the clear evidence of the commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia for 2035 goal.
The Cambodian premier expressed his hope that all functions at the new construction site will response to the needs of the Cambodian people. “Health services are vital for everyone, whether you are a farmer, Cambodian, or American they need healthcare, therefore ensuring quality, good, and sufficient health services is the most important task”, he underlined.
The Prime Minister went on to say that the disease is the same regardless the rich or poor countries. If you have cancer, it is the same cancer because human biology is almost the same so we must pay attention to the quality and good services.
“US$ 60 million dollars is a big amount, but it is something to invest. With this investment it will be returned to billions to nation.
The Royal Government will continue to pay attention on health. Health is the source of family happiness, and this is the sector that requires the greatest attention and investment, Samdech Thipadei stressed.
The new construction site of the University of Health Sciences Hospital worth some US$ 60 million, Minister of Health H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra said, adding that this will be built and equipped with modern medical facilities and equipment to be used as a multi-purpose for providing care, diagnosis, and treatment to patients, as well as a training center for human resources in the health sector.
