Four-day Flagship Expo Kicks Off


The Cambodia Trade Expo (CTE) – flagship expo under the theme “Trade Renaissance” to showcase the best Cambodian made products – kicked off here this morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister expressed his support to this​ annual event after it has been held successfully for already 16 times since 2006.

“This is a business platform to promote trade opportunities in Cambodia to international markets,” he underlined.

CTE will be run until Dec. 16, 2024 at PH Grand Hall Centre, Borey Peng Huoth Boeung Snor, with different high-profile side events, including the product exhibition and sales, 1st digital trade forum and online expo, Cambodia-Korea trade and investments forum, business matching activities on Cambodian potential product development, spotlight on Cambodia’s export sector forum, and concerts.

H.E. Ms. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce said the CTE’s ambition is to enhance Cambodia’s trade promotion activities, improve business and investment climate, and promote the exchange of imports and exports between local and international exhibitors, trade visitors and participants.

In this regard, she continued, beyond the wide range of products and services to be exhibited, the expo will also function as an apparatus for Cambodia to strengthens her trade relations with the global market by providing space for the international partners to highlight their offerings.

H.E. Minister underlined that the ministry will use this opportunity to invigorate this flagship expo with innovative ideas and reignite the country’s unique cultural and trade identity for the modern age, with smart and attractive displays and decoration to further enhance the aesthetics of the vendors’ expositions.

The Ministry of Commerce is optimistic that this year’s CTE will be a memorable experience, not only for the visitors joining its many programmes, but also for the trade partnerships to emerge as a result of the confirmed participations of traders from across the globe, she said.

CTE features about 250 standard booths for both local and international businesses from some ASEAN members, China and other nations.

According to H.E. Ms. Cham Nimul, in the first eleven months of this year, Cambodia’s trade volume totaled some US$50.45 billion, of which the exports were valued at US$24,34 billion, up 14.36 percent, while the imports were recorded at US$ 26,1 billion, up 17.48 percent.
