Minister of Agriculture, ACIAR Discuss Collaboration in Cambodia’s Agriculture Sector


H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries received here on Feb. 3 Prof. Wendy Umberger, CEO of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), to discuss potential collaboration in Cambodia’s agricultural sector.

In the meeting, H.E. Dith Tina welcomed ACIAR working group to examine the possibility of contributing to the Cambodian agricultural sector and continue to strengthen this cooperation for the benefit of farmers.

He encouraged ACIAR to explore opportunities in renewable energy, carbon credits and biochar in agricultural field.

H.E. Minister also mentioned about the establishment of modern agricultural communities, the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)’s policy to reduce production costs, aligning with market demands and improving economic efficiency.

H.E. Dith Tina asked ACIAR to examine the possibility of participating in low-interest loan investments for farmers, investment in infrastructure, and linking projects to support this modern agricultural community approach.

He also emphasised that the RGC welcomes all investments in the agricultural sector, especially in the production of agricultural inputs, animal feed, energy sector, etc. to help reduce the production costs, as well as in research of all sub-sectors such as animal production, aquaculture, and necessary infrastructure.
