Cambodia, Switzerland to Foster Cooperation

Cambodia and Switzerland are committed to fostering cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments, particularly under the bilateral, regional, and international frameworks.

The commitment was highlighted in a meeting among H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information (CFII) of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia; H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Chair of the CFII of the Senate of Cambodia; and H.E. Laurent Wehrli, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, along with the Representative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Phnom Penh last weekend.

The meeting discussed and exchanged views on foreign policy and parliamentary diplomacy on the foundation that Cambodia and Switzerland adhere to a neutral foreign policy.

The Cambodian legislative body appreciated the government of Switzerland, through the SDC, for supporting Cambodia’s health, education, and demining so far.

The meeting also applauded long-lasting relations between Cambodia and Switzerland in all sectors and pledged to further enhance the cooperation in the future.
