Cambodia, Ireland Discuss Agriculture Cooperation

Agriculture Ministers of Cambodia and Ireland have discussed cooperation on modern farming acceleration and technical capacity development.

Cambodia Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries H.E. Dith Tina received H.E. Noel Grealish, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine of the Republic of Ireland for the cooperation discussion on Mar. 17 in Phnom Penh.

In support of Cambodia’s modern farming, H.E. Dith Tina encouraged Ireland to increase its Official Development Assistance that could enable Cambodia to secure low-interest loans for Cambodian farmers to apply to their modern farming.

With modern farming, the farmers can reduce production costs, better adapt to climate change, boost added value for their agricultural productions, and increase exports.

On technical agriculture human resource development, H.E. Minister supports scholarship provision to Cambodian students as well as community-based agriculture focal points.

He also encouraged student exchanges between the two countries.
