H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information of the Kingdom of Cambodia, is heading a delegation from the Ministry of Information to the 17th Conference of the ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) & Related Meetings in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam from May 7 to 9, 2025.
Cambodia holds the position of Vice Chair for this year’s AMRI, which is being hosted by Brunei Darussalam under the theme “Media: A Catalyst for Greater Understanding – Shaping the Evolving Role of Media in Fostering ASEAN Cooperation and Mutual Understanding”.
This theme underscores the critical and changing role of media in advancing regional collaboration, identity, and mutual understanding among ASEAN member nations.
The meeting brings together ministers and senior officials from all ASEAN member states, as well as representatives from Timor-Leste, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the ASEAN Secretariat.
In his opening remarks, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam, stressed the significance of strategic media engagement in reinforcing ASEAN centrality.
Furthermore, it was announced that Cambodia will take on the rotating chairmanship of the 18th AMRI in 2027.
