Cambodia, Vietnam to Promote Tourism Cooperation

Cambodia and Vietnam have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in tourism, with a focus on improving transport connectivity to attract more international and domestic visitors.

This commitment was discussed during a meeting held on May 27 in Phnom Penh between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, and H.E. Nguyễn Minh Vũ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Cambodia.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views and strategies aimed at strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector. They emphasised the importance of increasing tourist flows between the two neighboring countries, particularly during the current Green Season.

The discussion centered on developing infrastructure to better connect tourism destinations by land, water, and air. Proposed initiatives included increasing the number of direct and regular flights from major cities in Vietnam to Cambodian tourist hubs, facilitating travel procedures, and jointly organising new and attractive international tourism events.

Both H.E. Minister Huot Hak and H.E. Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ expressed a shared understanding of the strategic role tourism plays in fostering economic growth, improving livelihoods, and deepening the traditional friendship and solidarity between the peoples of the two nations.

They also acknowledged the steady increase in Vietnamese tourist arrivals to Cambodia, attributing the growth to Cambodia’s peace, political stability, and strong public security. These factors, along with the country’s rapid development across multiple sectors, have made Cambodia a safe and appealing destination for both Vietnamese and international tourists and investors.
