Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), held talks with H.E. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), in Hanoi on Monday afternoon, as part of his official visit to attend the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day.
According to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith, the bilateral meeting clearly reflected the close ties and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam.
During the talks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s warm hospitality and highly valued the August Revolution of 1945, describing it as a historic and meaningful event for the Vietnamese people, as well as an inspiration that contributed to anti-colonial struggles for independence across the region and beyond.
The CPP President voiced satisfaction with the relations between the two parties and governments, stressing that the development of party-to-party relations has been central. He noted that the recent summit of CPP and CPV leaders serves as an important mechanism to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
For his part, H.E. To Lam echoed Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s remarks, highlighting the positive progress of relations, particularly between the two ruling parties. He underlined that the recent party leaders’ summit provides a roadmap for future cooperation, including the development of human resources.
The CPV General Secretary also encouraged both sides, especially within the party framework, to continue regular exchanges and foster greater connections between Cambodian and Vietnamese youth to build stronger bonds for the future.
The discussion also touched on economic, trade, and military cooperation between the two nations.
