Cambodia, Vietnam Satisfied with Their Strong Friendship and Partnership


Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, held talks with H.E. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Hanoi this afternoon.

During the meeting, both sides praised the progress made in their respective countries and their growing prestige on the international stage, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson for the Senate.

H.E. Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed Samdech Techo and his delegation for their visit and participation in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam. He stressed that the visit clearly demonstrates the strong and enduring friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam, both historically and at present.

Samdech Techo described the August Revolution of 1945 as a historic and meaningful event for Vietnam, and an inspiration that contributed to the anti-colonial struggle for independence in the region and worldwide. He also expressed satisfaction with the close cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam at both the legislative and executive levels, as well as within party-to-party framework, which continue to strengthen.

The Senate President further highlighted the steady growth of bilateral trade, which has reached US$10 billion annually, while both countries are working toward a target of US$20 billion.

Samdech Techo also expressed his appreciation to Vietnam for consistently providing scholarships across various fields, including the economy and the military, to help train Cambodian human resources.
