DPM Affirms RGC’s Measures to Boost Socio-Economic Development

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E Aun Pornmoniroth has affirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is actively developing a series of timely and targeted intervention measures to mitigate the socio-economic impacts of recent challenges, including the conflict along the Cambodian-Thailand land border.

He made the affirmation in a wrap-up meeting held here on Sept. 2 to summarise the “Results of the Assessment of the Macroeconomic and Public Finance Situation of Cambodia for 2025” with 2025 Article IV consultation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by IMF Mission Chief to Cambodia Mr. Kenichiro Kashiwase.

In the meeting, DPM Aun Pornmoniroth also emphasised that these immediate interventions are part of a broader, long-term national strategy.

“The government remains committed to addressing structural issues that are crucial for sustainable socio-economic development,” he said.

He expressed his deep gratitude and high appreciation once again to the IMF mission team for providing good recommendations for Cambodia to continue on the path of resilient, climate-friendly, and sustainable growth in the medium and long term.

The IMF team, led by Mr. Kenichiro Kashiwase, held discussions with senior officials of the Royal Government of Cambodia, the National Bank of Cambodia, and other public agencies, as well as a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives of the business and banking sectors, and development partners from Aug. 20 to Sept. 2 for the 2025 Article IV consultation.
