Cambodian PM Stresses Importance of Frequent Visits to Strengthen Cambodia–Malaysia Ties

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that regular exchanges of visits between the executive and legislative branches of Cambodia and Malaysia are vital to further promote, strengthen, and expand bilateral relations.

The Cambodian Premier made the remarks this morning while receiving a courtesy call from a delegation of the Parliamentary Federation for World Peace (PFWP) Malaysia, led by its Chairman, H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta, a member of the Malaysian Senate, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta and his delegation, expressing satisfaction with the steady development of Cambodia–Malaysia relations and cooperation in key areas, including legislative collaboration.

For his part, H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta conveyed his pleasure in leading the Malaysian parliamentary delegation to Cambodia and praised the country’s ongoing progress. He also expressed appreciation for the Cambodian parliamentary delegation’s active participation in the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) held recently in Malaysia.

He voiced confidence that the current visit would further enhance cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments and contribute to deepening Cambodia–Malaysia ties.

During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei and H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta discussed bilateral cooperation in several key fields, including politics, trade, economy, national defence, and people-to-people exchanges.

On the occasion, the Cambodian Premier expressed his profound gratitude to H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for facilitating the recent ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as for Malaysia’s role in coordinating and leading the Interim Observer Team (IOT) to monitor its implementation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
