Cambodia Hopes to Convene JBC Meeting Soon


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed hope that the Joint Boundary Commission between Cambodia and Thailand will be convened soon to discuss border management issue.

On his social media platforms this afternoon, the Cambodian Premier stated that Agreed Minutes of the 1st Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia-Thailand held on Sept. 10, 2025 in Koh Kong province, Kingdom of Cambodia, signed by H.E. General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. General Nattaphon Narkphanit, Acting Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Thailand clearly indicates that, with regards to border management issue, in particular regarding incidents in the area between Chork Chey village, O’ Beichoan commune, O’ Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, and Nong Chan village, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province, Thailand, both sides recognised the JBC as a mechanism to bring a solution to issues related to joint survey and demarcation and agreed to refer this matter to the next JBC Meeting as a priority agenda.

Meanwhile, he continued, both sides tasked the Regional Border Committee (RBC) to discuss the management of this matter, in accordance with the outcome of the discussion under the JBC.

Recent delay in JBC meeting, which was scheduled in September, has been due to the changing composition of JBC Thailand, said Samdech Thipadei, expressing hope that the JBC meeting will be held in the very near future to discuss this matter.
